A posting and subsequent comments on Mike Nesbitt's blog highlighted by Chekov has caused a bad bit of a bad news morning for the Elliott campaign (as well as an example of why having an comment approval system on a blog can have message management value).
The potential harm of the story is not so much the two parades rather the implication from Nesbitt's comments that someone somewhere wasn't being straight:
"I have spoken to Tom Elliott, and would, therefore, challenge you to provide the evidence that he said he would never attend a GAA match, because that is not what he tells me."
Which doesn't match this morning's comments. The second and more important is that a mauling on Nolan will feed the criticism of Elliott's media presentation and increase the negative comparisons.
